Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park was named after a respected pioneer from the Big Sur County named Julia Pfeiffer Burns. It stretches across the Big Sur coastline and is surrounded by redwood trees, tan oak trees, and an 80 food waterfall. This beautiful and tranquil park was originally established in the year 1962.

Camping at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park
The Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park features two hiking camping areas. The Sunset magazine recognizes these campgrounds one of the “four best places to pitch a tent on the Pacific Coast.” Both of the park’s campsites have a breathtaking view of the Pacific Coast; however, they are restricted to individuals who have made reservations. It was not until 2007 that the second campsite was installed in the park.
