Update: Since this writing Eddie Bauer has upgraded to the Bacon 2.0 Pack, which is even better.
The Eddie Bauer First Ascent Bacon Pack is a well made pack with an abundance of pockets and loops for clipping items to. Here’s the rundown in more detail.
Appearance: The Bacon Pack is an attractive backpack that has a nice sleek look to it. The thin red lines look sharp on the black and gray pack. Nice job Eddie Bauer.
Functionality: With two pouches on top, 28 liters of space, and a pouch for a hydration system, the Bacon Pack does it all. Throw in the adjustable waist band and shoulder straps and you have a bag than can get just about any job done.
Durability: 210-denier triple ripstop nylon reinforced with diamond ripstop cordura nylon will last for years to come.
Value: I quoted the price as $75 in the video, but that was from a special sale. It’s actually $99, and I still think that’s a great price for everything this pack has to offer.
Weight: For a pack that has a waistband, and can handle 28 liters of gear, we think one and a half pounds is a pretty tolerable weight.
