A great nature moment caught on film shows a crocodile and a fish eagle going for the same prey in Kruger National Park. Kruger covers a large area within South Africa and Mozambique, and it’s home to Africa’s “Big 5″—lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffalos. It’s also home to aerial and aquatic predators like the African fish eagle and the mighty Nile crocodile. A viral video shows what happens when a fish eagle tries to go up against a crocodile to gain a free meal.
According to Latest Sightings, Gavin Ellard caught the moment on camera from Pafuri Border Rest Camp in the northern part of Kruger National Park. Latest Sightings reports that Ellard and his family were relaxing in the camp’s pool when they heard some splashing in the Luvuvhu River. They had already seen the crocodile make its catch, and they assumed that was the coolest thing they’d see for a while. But the action was far from over.
In the video, you see a crocodile momentarily leave its prey unguarded, which turns out to be a big mistake. A fish eagle then swoops in and tries to take it away. You’ll have to watch to see what happens next.
