Mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus) are one of two deer species present in Colorado. You can spot them thanks to their large, mule-like ears and black-tipped tails. Colorado Parks and Wildlife says the state of Colorado is home to the largest population of mule deer in the world.

Mule deer fawns stay close to their mothers’ sides during the summertime, since they’re still nursing (and, apparently, a bit wobbly). Many fawns are weaned by the fall. However, the young deer stay with their moms for up to two years.

In her Facebook post, Colorado Wild Photography called the moment she spotted the wobbly fawn “one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen!”

The baby slowly and cautiously follows its mother through a field of flowers. The beautiful music adds to the lovely scene.
