Allie Schawe was hiking in Glacier National Park when, suddenly, she spotted a grizzly bear coming up the trail behind her. Since the path was narrow, with a drop on one side and a mountain on the other side, she had nowhere to go except up against the mountain. She did her best to give the bear space to pass. Suddenly, another grizzly bear joined the party.

“Hi all! I wanted to share a video of a recent grizzly encounter I had while at Glacier National Park,” Schawe shared in a post to a Facebook group called Glacier National Park Montana. “I had nowhere to retreat to, so I stood back in the rocks and let them pass by. Don’t worry, bear spray was locked and loaded in the other hand!”

During this tense encounter, Schawe’s fiancé, who was a short way up the trail, kept calling on the walkie talkie. But Schawe had all of her attention on the bears, which were definitely interested in her but were not acting aggressively.
