An Altadena, California homeowner named Ken Johnson can finally say he doesn’t live with a bear. A massive black bear had decided to squat in Johnson’s crawlspace, and no one (not even the California Department of Fish and Wildlife) could get it out for over a month. At long last, with the help of a couple of experts who flew in from the Lake Tahoe area, the bear left.

But the drama wasn’t over yet. Johnson shared footage with local news showing that the bear tried to get back into the crawlspace later, and then it walked around the house, looking for a new place to squat. Thankfully, this time, it couldn’t get in.

Johnson’s home may now be bear-less, but he’s left with another big problem—the damage. He’s set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to help him get through this tough time.
