Disney Announces Free Perk

Inside the Magic shared the details surrounding this interesting situation. According to the outlet, this short-lived perk came and went without any announcement or warning. Many fans missed the ordeal entirely. Others, however, were well aware and are a bit befuddled by the outcome.
In Magic Kingdom, there is an activity called A Pirate’s Adventure. It is located near the popular Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney. The scavenger hunt has participating guests go on a pirate treasure hunt. Recently, Disney announced that a free perk of completing the scavenger hunt would be a Lightning Lane pass.
Although it felt like a new and exciting prize, Inside the Magic shared that this is not the first time this prize has been offered. Apparently, “before the parks shut down in 2020, the game used to offer FastPasses for Pirates of the Caribbean as a prize.” Therefore, it appeared as if Disney was just bringing back a beloved free perk from the past.
Perk Is Removed Rapidly
Guests were completely bamboozled by Disney’s choice to announce and then take away this exciting free perk. Guests were ecstatic to see that it came back after having been taken away in 2021. However, within days of it being reactivated, the perk was gone once again. Why?
Inside the Magic shares that one possible reason is that it was never meant to be a permanent perk. Instead, the outlet argues that perhaps it was a test — something to temporarily increase engagement. Offering a free Lightning Lane pass is definitely one way to gather more interest in A Pirate’s Adventure — particularly since not everyone knows about this underrated experience.
Additionally, the outlet shared that as we move into the park’s busiest times of the year, too many Lightning Lanes could cause issues and increase standby wait times. However, do not despair. Although Disney has removed this free perk temporarily, it coming back at all proved that it may not be gone for good.
