Two aggressive elk charged a woman who was walking her dog along a lake near Evergreen, Colorado. A bystander recorded the incident, yelling at the woman to run and pick up her dog as the elk picked up speed behind her.

To escape the charging animals, the woman crouched in the bushes just off trail. One elk tried to stomp on the dog, but it appears everyone escaped without injury.
This time of year, many animals are protecting their young and may act aggressively toward humans. If you live in a place where large, territorial animals also live, consider carrying bear spray, which gives you the option to haze an animal that perceives you as a threat. Check local laws about when and where hazing is allowed.
