A body boarder off the coast of Newport Beach, California, had no idea an apex predator was lurking nearby. The body boarder’s brother was recording him from shore, when, suddenly, a great white shark leapt into the air in the background.

“Professor of marine biology and director of the Cal State Long Beach Shark Lab Christopher Lowe told KTLA that the shark in the video appears to be a juvenile great white,” wrote KTLA in an Instagram post sharing the footage. “Lowe said the shark was possibly trying to scratch an itch. That, or it was having a good time.”
