When a homeowner in Truckee, California decided to put a kiddie pool in his backyard to attract birds, he didn’t expect a huge black bear to come take a dip. That’s what happened, though, and thankfully, he had a camera set up to capture the moment.

Truckee is in northern California, north of Lake Tahoe, and even though it’s black-bear territory, the homeowner didn’t really expect a bear to come for a swim in the small pool. The footage shows the bear lounging in the water and sniffing the trees before standing up and starting to explore the camera. It gives the camera a sniff and a nudge before ultimately getting out of the pool and moving on.

“Bear enjoys summer splash in kiddie pool, caught on Ring camera in Truckee,” wrote ABC10 in its YouTube caption. “Brian, the homeowner, had originally placed the kiddie pool in his backyard as a bird bath. However, it quickly became a popular stop for various animals.”
