“Juneau continues to experience extreme winter conditions, and the impacts in our harbors remain serious,” wrote Juneau Harbors in a New Year’s Eve Facebook post. “Overnight, three additional large vessels completely sank, bringing the storm total to eight vessels lost so far. Dozens more have been saved thanks to the tireless efforts of Docks & Harbors staff and quick action by fellow harbor users and boat owners. [. . .] Docks & Harbors is also rapidly bringing back seasonal summer staff and has created short-term emergency employment positions to assist with snow removal.”
