Homemade Graham Cracker Recipe For S’MORES

While the origin of the word “S’MORES” only dates back to the mid-1970’s, I think we can all agree that there are few campfire recipes that are more known and well loved. In this homemade graham cracker recipe, we’ll show you how to easily step up your S’MORES game – and improve upon the original S’MORES by leaps and bounds. This recipe is super simple, with just a handful of ingredients. The best part? These graham crackers will store well – making them perfect to make ahead of your campout. Enjoy!

Ingredients
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups whole wheat flour
  • ¾ cup dark brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions
  1. Using a stand up mixer: combine softened butter, brown sugar, honey and kosher salt – until well blended
  2. Add flours, ¼ cup at a time – alternating between all-purpose flour and whole wheat flour
  3. Layout a sheet of waxed paper, about the size of a large cookie sheet, place graham cracker dough onto waxed paper.
  4. Sandwich the mixture with another piece of waxed paper, and using a rolling pin – roll the dough into an ⅛” sheet.
  5. Cut the dough into crackers, and make 6 small holes in each cracker to allow even cooking
  6. Place the cut cracker sheet into the freezer for 30 minutes, allowing dough to freeze.
  7. Remove crackers from freezer, and transfer individually to a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet.
  8. Bake crackers for 10 minutes, until the tops start to brown.
  9. Remove from oven, and allow each cracker to cool.
  10. Store in an air-tight container until ready to eat.
