A video showing a man walking on a rickety-looking rope “bridge” (can you call that a bridge?) on the side of a cliff makes me think that maybe via ferratas, at least at this elevation, aren’t my cup of tea. The Leukerbadner Klettersteig in Leukerbad is the longest via ferrata in Switzerland. It cuts diagonally through a “vertical arena” and encompasses the Gemmiwand Adventure Via Ferrata—a route that includes a section in which you’re suspended in the air, walking across a rope bridge that does not look safe at all.

In the video, the man appears to be wearing a GoPro or similar camera on his head. From his first-person view, you see some small wooden steps strung together by rope. Below the rope bridge is just a steep drop and a bunch of skull-crushing rocks.
The man is harnessed, of course, and he carefully makes his way across the via ferrata, but the video still makes my palms sweat.
Would you do this freaky via ferrata in Switzerland?
