Elephants are an extremely loyal species. They are known to form lifelong social bonds and spend their entire lives with their herds. Additionally, they are incredibly cooperative, whether it is raising their young, supporting injured members, or mourning the loss of a herd member, elephants always stick together. Perhaps that is why they are one of my favorite animals. This incredible video footage clearly highlights that intense level of loyalty. Entire Elephant Family Working Together To Save Baby Stuck In The Mud
Latest Sightings shared the footage of the touching moment. The footage shows an entire elephant family working together. They were working together to rescue a baby elephant. Jolandi de Klerk filmed the incident when a baby elephant fell and got trapped in some mud in South Africa’s Addo Elephant National Park.
The footage shows the baby elephant getting too close to the edge of a watering hole. Afterward, it slowly slips backwards further onto the muddy bank. The poor thing frantically reaches towards its mother with its trunk, but it is too late.
Teamwork Makes The Dream Work
Fortunately for the baby, Mama elephant and other members of the herd waste no time springing into action. They approach the edge of the watering hole and investigate the situation. Together, they reach out their trunks and try to wrap them around the baby elephant to haul it up to safety.
Despite their efforts, removing the baby elephant from the mud proved to be quite the challenge. Several of the elephants trumpet in alarm. Eventually, even the large bull becomes interested and saunters over to see what is causing the commotion. The entire elephant family is working together, standing on the edge of the watering hole in solidarity as one elephant enters from another angle, trying to get closer to the baby elephant stuck in the mud.
Fortunately, with a lot of determination and the help of everyone in the herd, they are able to rescue the baby elephant from the mud.
