Missing Florida Man Discovered Shoulder-Deep in Quicksand

Authorities found a missing man in Florida, and he was alive but not exactly well. Andrew Giddens, while trespassing on private property, managed to become stuck shoulder-deep in “quicksand” mud. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that Giddens had gone without food or water for “several days” at the time of his rescue.

The sheriff’s office posted video footage of the quicksand rescue on Facebook. Crews couldn’t access where Giddens was stuck without become stuck themselves, so they had to use ladders and other supplies to dig him out. Mud had swallowed Giddens up to his shoulders, and he was “virtually camouflaged.”

Medical authorities expect Giddens to survive the harrowing ordeal.
