Missing Man in Turkey Searched for Himself in a Forest for Hours

A man had been drinking with friends when he disappeared into a nearby forest. Friends and family became worried about him, so they contacted authorities and sent out a search party. The man, Beyhan Mutlu, stumbled upon the search party and joined the cause. That’s right, a missing man searched for himself in a forest in the Bursa Province of Turkey . . . and apparently this went on for hours.

Turkish news outlet Vaziyet reported the event on X when it occurred in September 2021. Word about the strange situation continues to spread on social media, because it is just so remarkable.

“In the İnegöl district of Bursa, a person named Beyhan Mutlu searched for himself for hours, thinking that the search efforts started for him were for someone else,” Vaziyet wrote. “The teams prepared a report regarding the search and took the missing person home.”

Mutlu, 50, is apparently a helpful person, and he didn’t ask questions when he came across the search party. He just wanted to help. BBC reported that after he’d spent “hours” with the team, they began calling out his name, to which he replied: “I am here.”
