An extraordinary event happened this past January 3 in the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It was there that a wild mountain gorilla recently gave birth to twins. Everyone at the national park is rejoicing at this marvelous event.

Wild Mountain Gorilla Gave Birth To Twins

Although the twins were born on January 3, the happy news was not shared with the public until January 7. The Virunga National Park shared the thrilling news in a Facebook post. In the post, they called the twins’ birth “a rare and remarkable event.” Furthermore, they shared that “the birth of twin mountain gorillas in the Bageni family on 3rd January 2026, was observed by our dedicated community trackers.”
With the addition of these two youngsters, the Bageni family is now the largest in the Park with 59 members. Also, they were sure to put the public’s mind at ease by sharing that they will be monitoring the situation and the twins’ health. They wrote, “Additional monitoring and protection measures are now in place to support the twins’ health during this critical early period.”
