The National Park Service (NPS) is encouraging people to give “Green Friday” a try instead of Black Friday. NPS calls Green Friday a new tradition in which Americans go outdoors and visit national parks and public lands on the Friday after Thanksgiving in lieu of going shopping. An NPS post on social media spoofs the biggest shopping day of the year by sharing Green Friday “deals.”

Deals include things like “countless opportunities for fitness outdoors” and “hundreds of free educational resources, including lesson plans, fun activities, and virtual classroom programs.” Will you celebrate Green Friday today instead of or in addition to Black Friday?
