A group near the Madera Canyon parking lot and trailhead in southern Arizona didn’t expect to come across a large bear, but they did, and their reactions are pretty funny.

“Ok, which one of us can run faster?” jokes one man in the background.

“Ok, time to go,” says another as the video clip abruptly ends.

Local news shared the video from Richard Fray on social media, noting that the bear was near the trailhead’s parking lot. Fray is a local bird expert, according to Arizona Daily Star, but something much larger found him and his group on this particular day.

Despite having brown fur, this bear is an American black bear, the state’s only bear species.
