The Telluride Mushroom Festival earlier this summer brought out the most enthusiastic of mushroom enthusiasts. At least, it seems to have brought out the most creative ones, because some people actually dressed as mushrooms . . . convincingly dressed as mushrooms.

The event takes places every year in Telluride, Colorado, and it’s been around since 1981. On the festival’s website, it says: “We are a family bonded around mushrooms.” And, honestly, this seems like the funnest family reunion ever.
An Instagram account focused on sharing art posted the photos and videos taken by @meteoriitta and @anniecollinge. In one photo, a woman appears to be lying on the ground while her mushroom costume extends up at an impossible angle. Still not sure what it is . . . and how it exists.
In another photo, a woman and a man stand next to each other wearing identical mushroom costumes. They stare at the camera with unsmiling faces, and it’s just funny. Yet another video shows multiple people standing inside a large mushroom costume, making it move in a way that’ll make you laugh. The dedication of these mushroom enthusiasts is impressive.
