A Colorado couple was shocked to find a red-tailed hawk perched on a patio chair in their backyard. Walking out to see if the animal was still there, one of the homeowners began a conversation with it. A man joins shortly after, and he jumps right in on the convo, even introducing himself to the bird and thanking it for not eating their dog. The whole scene is incredibly endearing, and the bird just stares at the pair with its big, bright eyes.

The couple called Colorado Parks and Wildlife to tell them about the bird in their yard, and they provided an update on their Instagram post, saying:
“Update: After calling and speaking with various foundations/agencies, a lovely man named Casey came from Colorado Parks and Wildlife [CPW]. Casey was able to carefully transport this beautiful creature (Red-tailed Hawk) to a nearby foundation.”
Casey from CPW let the homeowners know later that the hawk had likely collided with something and sustained a minor head injury, as well as as a small fracture in her wing. However, they are optimistic that the hawk can be released soon.
