Trail Cams Capture Photos of Rare Leopards in Remote Forests

The Creative Conservation Alliance announced it has captured extremely rare trail-cam photos of leopards in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of southeastern Bangladesh. The organization says these photos prove that the big cats still live in the region, but no one knows how much longer they’ll be able to survive there.

“Our field team has recently captured incredible camera trap photos of leopards from the remote forests of the Chittagong Hill Tracts,” wrote the Creative Conservation Alliance in a Facebook post sharing the photos. “These photos provide evidence that these elusive big cats still persist in the region. Their survival depends on the crucial support of local communities, who share their habitat.”

Leopards in this area face threats such as habitat loss, poaching, and lack of prey, but the recent photos of these animals in the Chittagong Hill Tracts provide hope for the species. The Creative Conservation Alliance is working with local communities to protect these “ancient forests” and all the animals that live there, including leopards, for the benefit of all.
