A group of friends who have a history of hiking in costume for Halloween dressed up as three blind mice and hiked Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. A video of their adventure is gaining traction online, and even though this sort of thing is a tradition for the group, a lot of people in the comments section say this year they shouldn’t have done it. Why? Because of the government shutdown.

“For Halloween we decided to Hike Half Dome in a formal white suit and tie,” wrote wildcowboyrob in Instagram post sharing the video. “This may be a first. The 3 blind mice conquered Half Dome. An epic unbelievable Shrek themed day.”
“Do I love this and think it’s hilarious? Hell yeah. Do I still think it’s reckless regardless of experience to do this without a permit and during a government shutdown? Also yes,” wrote one person in the comments section.

Others weren’t so gracious with their criticism.
“Cringe, especially during a govt shutdown,” wrote one person.
“Hiking a permit only trail during a government shut down? Gross. Get off the mountain, posers,” wrote another.
One commenter noted that the hikers don’t deserve to be condemned for visiting a park during the shutdown as long as they’re not trashing it. What do you think?
