Well, here’s something you don’t see every day. A great blue heron caught and then ate a snake whole, and Harry Collins was there to capture it in high res. Collins is a wildlife photographer based in Pennsylvania, but we don’t know where exactly he captured this video.

The footage shows the heron snatching a sizable snake from the water and then working pretty hard to eat it using just its beak. The trickiest moment seems to be when the heron hits the part of the snake’s body that’s tied into a knot.
