WATCH: Kayaking the ‘Terminator Rapid’ Looks Impossible

Aniol Serrasolses is a whitewater kayaker who doesn’t shy away from intense water. But a recent Red Bull-sponsored adventure had him attempting the so-called Terminator rapid in gnarly conditions. The resulting video is intense, to say the least.

Red Bull recently shared the video, which shows Serrasolses somehow staying upright as water crashes all around him and tosses his kayak around a bit too. Overlaid text on the video suggests that leading up to this video shoot, it had rained 90 mm (3.5 inches) within 24 hours. The influx of water volume meant the rapids were moving at 40 km/hour (nearly 25 mph).

Serrasolses went in anyway, and Red Bull claims it’s the first time someone has attempted this rapid in such conditions.

The Terminator rapid is in the Futaleufu River in Patagonia. On a normal day, the Terminator is a Class IV rapid. On this day, it might have gained a class.

The comments on the video are pretty funny at times.

One person wrote: “Is the point of this to die[?]”

Another said: “My toxic trait is thinking I would do this and have fun.”

Yet another person pointed out: “you can literally surf every wave . . . sick!”

Would you take on the Terminator?
