What animal can scare not just one but three bears up a tree? In this case, a dog. Tahoe Toogee, a local Lake Tahoe black bear/wildlife advocate, recently shared trail-cam footage of three black bears becoming startled and then quickly climbing up a tree. The animal that causes such a stir is a dog, which runs up to the tree barking shortly after all three bears get up off the ground. Toogee points out that although this dog manages to chase three bears up a tree without repercussion, the interaction could have gone horribly wrong.

“An excellent reason to keep your dog on lead,” writes Toogee in an Instagram post sharing the video. “Thankfully nothing bad happened to the bears, or the dog. These kind of interactions can go south QUICKLY, and sometimes have a not so good outcome.”
