Here are 10 Reasons You Don’t Want To Miss The Lunar Eclipse
1. It’s a Blood Moon
The Sun will be casting shadows through Earth’s atmosphere giving the Moon a nice red tint.
2. It’s a Super Moon,
Which means the Moon is entering its closest approach to Earth and will appear at its largest
3. It’s ALSO a Harvest Moon
Before artificial lighting, this early rising Moon gave farmers more time in the fields to cut and move ripened crops.
4. The Moon Illusion
This optical illusion will cause the Moon to appear strikingly larger near the horizon than it does higher up in the sky. It will be in effect for those near the West Coast of the United States.
5. Worldwide Seats
This event is happening almost everywhere around the world – from Alaska eastward to India, everyone can get in on the action.
6. It’s a rare one
This will only be the 5th Super Moon Lunar eclipse since 1900
7. Lunar Tetrad
This is the fourth eclipse in the Lunar Tetrad that started in April of 2014
8. A Trip to the Moon
After your time outside you can cozy up indoors and watch “La Voyage Dans La Lune” (a trip to the moon) online for free! It’s one of the very first sic-fi movies filmed way back in 1902.
9. You can watch it online!
In case you can’t make it outside or have cloudy skies, the event will be broadcast live on Slooh.com
10. You will have to wait…
If you miss this one the next Super Moon eclipse won’t happen until 2033!
