One of the strangest situations of the week has to be a runaway kangaroo wreaking havoc on an Alabama highway. The pet kangaroo escaped its enclosure, and, although it caused a two-car crash and shut down the highway, the animal managed to escape the ordeal unscathed.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) posted about the strange incident to Facebook. The agency started by saying, “ALEA Investigates Crash Involving a Kangaroo – That’s a headline you don’t hear often.”
ALEA goes on to report that law enforcement closed both sides of the highway while troopers and the animal’s owner recovered the kangaroo. Apparently, the kangaroo’s name is Sheila. Her owner runs a pumpkin patch and petting zoo in the area.

Perhaps my favorite account of the kangaroo chaos, though, comes from an interview with Austin Price, the person who captured the viral video. Price told AP News: “I hear my grandmother yell, ‘Is that a kangaroo?’” Naturally, he didn’t believe it until he saw it. Who can blame him?
