Joey Danger started climbing El Capitan as a 6 year old and finished five days later as a 7 year old, making him the youngest person to climb this epic rock face in Yosemite National Park. Joey beat his older brother’s record and celebrated his birthday on the wall.

Joe Evermore is the family patriarch, and he says big challenges like climbing El Cap are a sort of rite of passage for the family of six. Evermore shared frequent updates of Joey’s record-breaking ascent on social media, including a high-altitude gender reveal for baby #5 of the family—a girl. For Joey, who already has three brothers, the news was a treat.
