Two women ended up following a mystery animal on a Michigan hiking trail for a while, and it was hard to tell exactly what it was from their vantage point. Julie Miller posted a video of the creature to her Instagram page, challenging her online community to “name that creature.”

“On today’s hike we came across this curmudgeoned creature,” Miller wrote in her Instagram post sharing the footage of the animal walking from behind. “It [led] our hike for about half a mile before going off trail. Do you know what it is?”

American badgers, raccoons, porcupines, and skunks all share the same general coloration as this mystery animal, but the tail rules most of those options out. It’s likely a North American porcupine, and most people on Miller’s Facebook post agree.
