Jenny and Dave Radick happened upon quite a scene recently in Ouray, Colorado, while on a road trip. A “massive” black bear had broken into a restaurant, and they were they to film the drama as it unfolded.

“Well . . . this was NOT on our Ouray itinerary,” the Radicks wrote in an Instagram post sharing the footage. “A massive black bear broke into a restaurant in Ouray, Colorado — and somehow ended up trapped inside, right next to the front window and the Pac-Man machine. 911 and wildlife officials were called, and thankfully they were eventually able to coax the bear safely back outside. We happened to be there to capture it — and before we knew it, people were asking us to AirDrop them the video. Definitely one of those ‘did that really just happen?’ moments from this road trip. And yes . . . he was even bigger in person.”

Colorado is seeing a lot of bear activity lately, thanks to a state-wide drought that has driven these animals closer to civilization to find food. It’s also the time of year when bear encounters naturally uptick, since bears are all doing their best to fatten up before their winter sleep—a process called hyperphagia.
