Some campers in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park had some bad luck recently after an elk decided it wanted to get into their tent. Bystanders caught the moment the elk ripped up the tent with its antlers on video and shared it on social media.

“Elk destroys tents at Rocky Mountain National Park and helps himself to some breakfast,” wrote Brad Randolph in his Instagram post sharing the video. “Fortunately the tent owners had gotten out in time and nobody was hurt.”

Some folks in the comments section criticized the people filming, saying they should have tried to scare the elk off instead of just watching the destruction.
One person who was there wrote: “I was there when this happened. I was a couple of sites down. a) ‘Why didn’t they just clap and yell at him?’ They did. Lots of yelling and clapping, banging pots, etc. This guy was super comfortable around people and DGAF [didn’t give a f*ck]. b) ‘Why just stand there and film instead of saving the guys tent?’ The guy who owned the tents was filming. c) ‘Why did they leave all that food out?’ They were prepping breakfast. There were 3 dogs, about 4 kids, and 3 adults all at the picnic table and the elk just walked up anyway. Like I said – he DGAF. d) ‘If I was there I would have been having elk steaks.’ You would have spent the night in jail tough guy. This is in a developed campground in a [national park].”
