A black bear searching for a free snack ended up destroying a tent at a campground in California’s Yosemite National Park. Fellow campers caught the moment on video. Eventually, the group of people scares the bear away by yelling, but not before the animal snatches a baggie full of something.

ABC30 shared the footage from Neha Lalwani. Many people in the comments section criticized the people in the area who didn’t try to scare the bear off sooner, noting that “a fed bear is a dead bear.”
In truth, it is extremely important to keep food and scented toiletries out of tents in bear country. All items that could draw a bear’s attention should be locked up in a bear-proof storage container, which many campgrounds provide. It’s unclear what this bear was after, but it succeeded, and now it will likely come back for more.
