It’s already time for some of this year’s bald eagle hatchlings to leave the nest. But have you wondered what this process looks like? A volunteer at The Nature Conservancy’s Tiger Creek Preserve in Florida captured one hatchling’s practice session on video. The young eagle hops and flaps, then hops and flaps some more. It’s pretty cute to watch.

“They grow up so fast,” wrote the Nature Conservancy in Florida in an Instagram post sharing the video. “This winter’s bald eagle hatchlings are expected to leave the nest any day now, starting with some practice flaps while mom and dad are away.”
