Bystanders Can’t Get Enough of This Bird’s Hilarious Dance

Bystanders enjoying a park in Manhattan had a blast watching a bird—an American woodcock (also called a “timberdoodle”)—do a hilarious dance. In reality, the bird wasn’t doing a boogie just to entertain the crowd; it was foraging for insects. The little dance apparently creates vibrations that help the bird root out earthworms.

“A crowd in Bryant Park [New York City] cheers on the Timberdoodle as it does its funky dance!” wrote ben__mitchell in an Instagram post sharing the funny footage. “American Woodcocks are heavily welcomed during their spring migration up north.”
