Camping Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park in California

The Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park was established in 1929. The park is named after the explorer Jedediah Stong Smith who was actually the first white man to explore northern California. The discovery of gold is what originally drew so many people to this portion of California.

Camping at Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park has over 100 different campsites for their guests to choose from. Very few of the campsites are available on a first come, first serve basis. It is highly recommended that guests call ahead and make reservations. Some of the campsites do close during the winter season; however, there are some sites open all year round.

Amenities at Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park offers their campers comfort stations, dump stations, fire rings, group picnic areas, hiking trails, restrooms, showers, and toilet areas. There is 18 miles worth of hiking trails for guests to explore during their stay.

Things to do in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park

Hiking, fishing, swimming, and seasonal campfire programs are offered to guests at all of the campgrounds. Some of the campgrounds also have bike trails for guests who like to bring their bikes with them when they go camping.

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park is open year round for campers. The day use area is open from sunrise to sunset.

Jedediah Smith Redwoods Camping Fees
Campsite rates range between $35 and $300 a night depending on whether you stay at the hike-in sites, drive-in sites, or group sites.
