Camping Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park in California

Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park is full of old growth redwoods, prairies, and 10 miles of beach. The park is designated as an International Biosphere Reserve and a World Heritage Site.

Camping at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park

Miners Ridge, Ossigon and Davison E-Camp Back Country Camps are closed indefinitely due to service reductions at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. Campers may still use Elk Prairie and Gold Bluff Campgrounds.

Visitors of individual campsites may stay no longer than 30 nights each year and no more than 15 nights during the summer. Group and Environmental site visitors can stay no more than 14 nights each year and no more than 7 consecutive nights.

Amenities at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park

The park has a visitor center and a nature store open all year. Fire rings, restrooms, showers, and toilets are available at the campsites.

Things To Do at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park

Visitors can picnic among the beautiful redwoods or on the sandy beach as the crashing waves provide the perfect ambience for a quiet meal. The park is perfect for viewing wildlife such as the Roosevelt elk, the spotted owl, and the marbled murrelet.

Cal-Barrel Road is a beautiful scenic drive that visitors can enjoy. The park also has 75 miles of hiking trails, accessible trails for visitors with disabilities, and bicycle trails. Nature enthusiasts can lead themselves on a self-guided nature trail or go backpacking along the trail to the hike-in trail camp. Interpretive talks and guided walks are also available seasonally.
