Bear Grylls says there are some circumstances in which a waterfall or rain might “fall upwards” instead of downwards like we’re all used to seeing. In case you don’t believe Grylls, he shared a video of it happening, although he doesn’t tell us when or where. The key to this natural phenomenon is wind, Grylls says.

“People often don’t believe that waterfalls and rain can fall upwards! But in this wind they can,” wrote Grylls in an Instagram post sharing the video.
The footage shows an unnamed waterfall with water appearing to flow upwards thanks to heavy winds whipping around the falls. Some people chime in saying they’ve also experienced this happening thanks to the perfect combination of wind speed and wind direction in the right place at the right time.
