The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) shared trail-cam footage showing a bobcat walking by the camera with an unexpected snack—an alligator. WPLG Local 10 News reports that it’s actually not rare for bobcats to eat alligators. What is rare, however, is to see a bobcat with an alligator in its mouth on a trail camera.

In fact, seeing a bobcat in Florida is rare in and of itself. FWC says bobcats are stealthy animals that people rarely see, even though the wild cats are abundant in parts of the state. The cameras are part of a network in place to monitor wild cats like Florida panthers (and bobcats) in the area.
This trail-cam footage is dated June 2024, but WPLG Local 10 aired it on their YouTube channel earlier today.
