A drone pilot known for his excellent footage of sharks and other marine wildlife recently captured a rare visitor off the coast of southern California—a hammerhead shark. Juan Morales of sky_angel_drones shared the hammerhead video to his Instagram page, and it got a lot of attention locally and beyond.

Morales’s drone reportedly spotted the hammerhead shark offshore from Gaviota Beach near Santa Barbara. Hammerheads are rare along the California coast, because they prefer warmer, tropical or subtropical waters.
