Some kayakers in New Zealand got to say hello to a couple of wild orcas that were very curious about the humans in bright boats. A video of their encounter shows the orcas swimming up alongside the kayakers’ boats and then surfacing to take a breath. Then, the orcas move on, as if they only came by to say a quick “hi.”

“OOHH! Check this out . . . !” wrote Kaikoura Kayaks in its Instagram post sharing the video. “After the recent stormy weather, this evening we were rewarded with a very epic encounter with Orca!”
Kaikoura Kayaks calls this a “once-in-a-lifetime” experience, and the kayakers in the video seem to agree. One woman says, “Oh my goodness, I’m gonna cry!”
