An Australian family caught a crab, observed it, and then released the animal back into a tide pool . . . but that’s not how the story ends. Unfortunately for the children, who had grown a bit fond of their crab friend, an octopus spotted the crab almost as soon as they released it, and then nature took its course. A video of the ordeal is going viral online.

Sharing the family’s footage on a national stage, ABC7 News said the sweet moment quickly turned into “a master class in the circle of life.” Indeed, it did, and you can hear the mom trying to encourage her kids to still enjoy the moment, saying: “Holy h*ll, boys, you won’t see that every day!”
