Capt. Casey Cooper admits it took him over 12,000 shots to capture the perfect photos of penguins jumping in and out of icy Antarctic waters. He called the process “challenging,” but the photos he ended up with are absolutely stunning.

“This was one of the most challenging things I’ve photographed but after ‘spraying and praying’ for a couple hours I finally nailed a few of them,” Cooper wrote in an Instagram video showing his process and the stunning photos themselves.
