We may only be a month into fall, but some national parks are already looking like winter. In fact, it’s already snowing in Yosemite. Multiple visitors to the popular park captured video of the snow yesterday.

Here’s one of those videos:
Ando Arakelyan, who spends his time around the park, captured the video. The video shows a panoramic view of a scenic lookout surrounded by a winter wonderland.
“Yosemite snowstorm October 14, 2025,” wrote Arakelyan on his post. “Glacier Point Road is closed, however, hiking is still an option.”
Glacier Point Road is one of many roadways that close when it’s snowing in Yosemite National Park. In fact, the road typically shuts down for the season from November through late May or early June. As Arakelyan mentions, the closure means no vehicles, but hiking is still allowed. A better winter alternative? Try snowshoeing or cross-country skiing in the area.
In fact, some areas have year-round signs for routes to enjoy the snow. However, the National Park Service does recommend visitors be prepared for winter weather and avoid getting lost.
“With trails and trail signs often covered by snow, route-finding can become complicated,” wrote the NPS on its website. “Winter routes are marked with metal signs and markers attached to trees, which can sometimes fall down and become obscured by snow, and pre-existing ski or snowshoe tracks aren’t necessarily going where you want to go.”
Besides being a beautiful landscape, visiting Yosemite in the winter can also help visitors beat the crowds. Last year, the park saw more than four million people. The vast majority of those people prefer to visit in the summer. So, scheduling a visit when it’s snowing in Yosemite may be a great way to experience the park in a new and exciting way.
