A man in North Carolina used an unconventional approach to getting a black bear to leave his front lawn—he dressed like a bear himself. Rodney Clark is the man in the grizzly bear costume who went vital for his attempts to ward off a real black bear that kept visiting his property. Believe it or not, it seems to work, and Clark scares the bear away several times in a mash-up video going viral online. But is it enough to keep the bear from coming around indefinitely?

In the first part of the video shared by New York Post on YouTube, Clark stays well away from the real bear. He does eventually wave his arms and slam his hand on the hood of the car to add some dramatic flair to his performance. As the bear continues to come back, however, Clark appears to get more comfortable, eventually approaching the bear in his costume and even growling at it. The real bear seems to want nothing to do with the weird-looking “bear” that keeps showing up in this yard.
