Not One But TWO Rare Animals Spotted on Wisconsin Trail Cam

For most people in North America, seeing a fisher is not something that happens every day—or ever, in some cases. For folks in northern Wisconsin who set up trail cams in remote areas, seeing one of these rare animals is perhaps a little more common. But capturing two fishers interacting in front of a trail cam in broad daylight? That’s something special no matter who you are and where you live.

Brad Johnson of Burnett County, Wisconsin recently shared trail-cam footage of two fishers to a Facebook group called Trail Camera Photos and Videos. The video is from August 2024. It has attracted over 500 likes, thanks to the rare animals featured.

Fishers (Pekania pennanti) are carnivorous mammals native to North America that live in forested areas. They’re mustelids and therefore related to animals like otters, badgers, weasels, and martens.

“Wow! One fisher is rare, two even rarer, and on such a scenic green log amazing!” wrote one person in the comments section.
