Tammy Neufeld of T. Lyn Neufeld Photography is plugged into the wildlife scene at Yellowstone National Park. She’s recently been sharing updates about an injured bison that she filmed spinning in circles in a river. Dubbed “Spinny” because of this unusual behavior, the bison appears to be injured in at least one eye. Neufeld told an ABC News affiliate that she frequently sees injured Yellowstone bison during rut season, but she’s never seen one so disoriented that it would spin in circles like this.

“A photo and videographer is speaking after one of her videos of a Bison at Yellowstone National Park spinning in circles went viral. She says she has never seen a bison act this way before,” wrote ABC 4 Utah in an Instagram post. “Tammy Neufeld says she spends days at a time filming the natural landscape and wildlife throughout Yellowstone and Western Wyoming. Recently, she came across something bizarre- a bison spinning in the river.”
Earlier today, Neufeld shared a photo taken by a friend that appears to be Spinny. She wrote: “An awesome follower, Carla, sent me a Pic she took yesterday, 10/2, of a bison that looks like Spinny! She said he still seemed kinda disoriented and his eye still red, but it was in an area that he could have gotten to after leaving the river. I’m inclined to think it’s him, and if it is, I feel this shows some signs of recovery.”
