I am sure that Hanover County Animal Protection (HCAP) gets a lot of wild calls. However, I suspect this was a surprise even for them. They got a call from Ashland, VA, about a raccoon that was having a wild weekend. When they arrived, they found a drunk raccoon passed out next to the toilet.

Drunk Raccoon Has Wild Weekend
A raccoon decided to have a wild weekend after it broke into a Virginia liquor store. PEOPLE shared how the wild animal broke into the store and ransacked the shelves, picking out its favorites. Then, after its drunken rampage, it passed out on the bathroom floor.
An HCAP official responded to the scene on Saturday, Nov. 29, and was astounded by what she saw. In a statement released by the HCAP office, Officer Martin shared that she found the “suspect” had broken into the store and ransacked the shelves. However, the “suspect” was a drunken raccoon.
Officer Martin secured the intoxicated animal and safely transported him back to the shelter, “before questioning,” the statement joked. Luckily for the drunk raccoon, it had no signs of injury, other than the worst hangover of its life. After it sobered up, the raccoon was safely released back into the wild.
Hopefully this adorable critter learned its lesson and won’t be bargining to into more liquor stores anymore.

This is not the first time that a raccoon has made headlines. PEOPLE shared that another drunk raccoon was making a mess in West Virginia. In fact, it was a group of drunken raccoons. Additionally, a raccoon recently made headlines for attacking a gentleman. To make matters worse, that raccoon was infected with rabies.
Now, some researchers are arguing that raccoons may even be the next animals to be domesticated. After this drunk raccoon’s recent activities and the internet’s warm and fuzzy reaction to it, I can honestly say I am not surprised.
