“Oh deer!” A runaway reindeer has caused some holiday shenanigans. Buddy the reindeer seems to have escaped Santa’s sleigh and has made a break for it. Now, there is an entire police operation to get him back where he belongs.

Runaway Reindeer
PEOPLE shared the story of Buddy the runaway reindeer. Buddy apparently escaped from Santa’s Enchanted Forest, an event in Merseyside, England. His escape led to an entire police operation to bring him back home. This operation even included a police drone and armed officers, according to the outlet.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency shared photos of Buddy, as well as the story of his rescue, on their Instagram. They shared that “Crosby and Southport Coastguard Rescue Teams, alongside Southport Offshore Rescue Trust, were called in to assist Merseyside Police due to fears that Buddy may enter the water.”
Photos show Buddy in the street, both during the day and caught like a deer in headlights at night. Fortunately, this runaway reindeer was not running amok too long. Buddy was found mere hours after his escape. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency shared the following details.
“Luckily, he (meaning Buddy), was discovered later that night on the dunes of Formby Beach.”
Another Special Type Of Deer
I am certain anyone who saw the runaway reindeer trotting through the streets was surprised. After all, it is not every day you see a reindeer out and about. This is not the only special sighting when it comes to deer. The other day, a doorbell camera caught footage of a very rare deer.
Okay, the deer itself wasn’t rare, but its condition was. The deer was a white tail deer, but it had “piebaldism—a rare genetic disorder that results in large patches of depigmentation of the deer’s fur.” The rarity of its condition made this deer quite the celebrity in its neighborhood, just like this runaway reindeer has become a bit of a celebrity.
