Stansport to Host Third Annual Family and Friends Campout

Los Angeles, CA (May 23, 2016): Stansport announces its third annual Family and Friends Campout will be held Saturday, June 25 through Sunday, June 26 at the Castaic Lake State Recreation Area in Castaic, CA. This year the company partnered with the LAPD Devonshire Police Activity League Supporters (Devonshire PALS) to invite local children in the program and their families to participate in the free camping event.

“We are thrilled to host the kids and their families from the Devonshire PALS program,” said Robert Lafferty, employee and campout organizer at Stansport.

Devonshire PALS is an after-school and weekend program for at-risk teens that builds positive relationships between youth and the LAPD.

“Every year we look to partner with an organization that helps families that come from a difficult financial background because our ultimate goal is to introduce families, that might not otherwise get the chance, to the great outdoors to see how fun and affordable a weekend of camping can be,” said Lafferty.

As in the past, the campout is completely free for the families. Stansport will be providing tents, sleeping bags, mattress pads, lanterns and other camping gear. Company employees will assist the families in setting up their campsites.

Stansport is also partnering with SOS Survival Products Inc. (SOS), a leader in emergency preparedness supplies and a company actively involved in philanthropy and community outreach. Employees from both companies will be providing and cooking food for the families on Stansport outdoor cooking stoves.

Stansport’s motto is “we make camping fun” and they will offer a variety of activities for the campers that include hiking, arts and crafts, a campfire and water activities. For the second year in a row, Stansport is teaming up with the Aquatic Center at Castaic Lake (an entity of California State University, Northridge). The team at the Aquatic Center will teach campers about boating and water safety and will provide gear for kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding.

“Each year we add more activities to keep the kids interested, but they get the most enjoyment just by being in the water and outside in nature,” said Wendy Carter, vice president of sales at Stansport. “We are extremely proud to host this event and we are looking forward to meeting the new families from Devonshire PALS.”
